On Dec. 29, 2019, the Hollis family found themselves standing on the 50-yard-line of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in front of thousands of college football fans during the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl .
It wasn’t something they ever imagined doing. But, Benji and LeeAnna Hollis, along with their youngest daughter Everlee, knew it was for a good reason—it was for Anna Charles, whom the family affectionately called “AC.”
After a routine tonsillectomy, 6-year-old AC’s health began to deteriorate. Severe knee and back pain drove her family to the Emergency Department at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta on April 15, 2019, when they were devastated by the news that AC had an aggressive form of acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
AC fought through emergency surgery on her spine and multiple rounds of chemo with a bright and strong spirit, but she relapsed and her body began to shut down. On Sept. 16, 2019, AC passed away surrounded by friends and family.
In her honor, Benji, VP of Sales for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, and LeeAnna created Team AC for the second annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Touchdowns for Children’s (T4C). Team AC raised an amazing $22,695 for the 2019 T4C competition—the most of any single team. Benji, LeeAnna and Everlee were recognized during the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and awarded the inaugural Anna Charles Hollis T4C Trophy for their fundraising efforts.
