In December 2021, our colleague Stefanie McKinney faced every parent's worst nightmare: her 18-month-old daughter, Emily Kate, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. For 444 days, we stood by the McKinney family through every scan, every round of chemotherapy, and every late-night emergency trip to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. After more than 14 months of courage and resilience, we were there to celebrate Emily Kate’s triumph over childhood cancer—a disease that impacts more than 400,000 children worldwide each year. CHOA played an instrumental role in Emily Kate’s journey and made a world of difference in the McKinney family’s lives.
